Scrapbook Challenge Throwdown: Day Five

Here is another layout from the Throwdown. Let me just say, I'm so glad I was able to go on a Scrapbook retreat a while back, or I would have had a hard time getting any of these layouts done! I think it might be time for another one! Oh honey..... :-)  LOL

Anyhow, Day Five Challenge was using handmade embellishments. I love this! As someone who has a never ending stash of "old" supplies, I try to make new embellishments whenever I can. Die-cutting machines such as the Cricut or Silhouette and even punches or decorative scissors can make this task super easy and cute!

So here is my layout for Day Five.

My Sweet baby boy. He was so tiny and new! It just melts my heart seeing him so small.

Title, stars, and moon all cut with the Create a Critter Cartridge Cricut Cartridge.
Machine Stitching with blue thread.

And here is my Handmade Embellishment. I thought it turned out super cute!
The orange ticket was cut using the Summer Vacation Seasonal Cartridge.

One more little handmade embellishment. Super easy to make. Orange circle is from a punch, stars in two different sizes cut from the Cricut, orange button, and blue ribbon threaded through button hole.

I would love to know if and how you make your own embellishments?

Supplies: Paper: Green: K & Company, Yellow Swirls: discontinued, Blue Dot Cardstock: Bazzil, Red Border: scraps; Rub-on & Stickers : K&Company;  Circle Punch: Creative Memories; buttons, ribbon, thread, sewing machine

Scrapbook Challenge Throwdown: Day Four

Here is a layout from Day Four of  the Scrapbook Throwdown with Latrice Murphy.

Day Four's Challenge was 6+ photos. I know I always have a ton of pictures and it can be hard to narrow them down. So this is what I came up with.

10 photos total.
All photos are 4x6 or cropped from 4x6 photo's. Very Easy to adapt.

Page One: 1 horizontal 4x6 the others have been cropped down.

Cluster of embellishments.

Kraft tag stamped with a background stamp to add a little color.
Back of tag is used for journaling and slides in pocket.

Page Two: Two vertical 4x6 photos, others cropped from 4x6.

Letters cut from Alpha Sheet. Love the butterflies.
Thanks to my crafty BFF for letting me use her punch! It is now on my need Wish List!

More clustered embellishments. I saw these butterflies on clearance at Michaels, not sure if they still have them, but I Love them!

What size of photo's do you use and do you usually use a lot of photos?

Supplies: Butterflies: Recollections, Striped Paper: DCWV The Green Stack; Background papers: Misc. Scraps; Butterfly Punch: Martha Stewart; Metal Tag: Making Memories;  Journaling tags: K&Company; Rub-on: Daisy Hill; Alpha: Hot Of The Press

Scrapbook Challenge Throwdown: Day Three

Has it really been over a month since my last post??? WOW!!!! Well, I have most definitely been very busy and have a new schedule and will chat more about that later. But I forgot that I did this layout of the kiddo's and since tomorrow (or today for some) is St. Patrick's Day I wanted to share.

Remember The Scrapbook Throwdown with Latrice Murphy that I was participating in? Well, I haven't quite finished all ten days, but this was Day 3 and the challenge was to sew on a layout.

I LOVE to sew on my layouts, but I normally machine stitch so I challenged myself to hand stitch on this layout.

I hand cut the banner and then stitched around the edge. I also stitched around the edge of the punched cardstock.

Prima flowers with bling added to the center. I used scissors for the scalloped borders. ( I really need to get a scallop punch!)

I layered up on embellishments.
When I hand write my journaling I use pencil first then trace over it with an archival safe pen.
(The photo shows the journaling in pencil)

Supplies: Flowers: Prima, Button: K&Company, Green/White Dot paper: DCWV Nana's Nursery-Girl
Other supplies were misc. scraps and pieces.

Thanks for stopping by, and I'm hoping to have more for you in the next few weeks! Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Scrapbook Challenge Throwdown: Day Two

Day Two's Challenge was Color Scheme. Latrice shared this color scheme (found via Pinterest) with us and that's what I went with. I had a couple of different sets of pictures in mind to use for it and I'm happy with the result.

In the process I found out I don't have a lot of different shades of orange. Most of what I have are bright summer tones or "Halloween" orange so good to know orange is not a color I use often. I don't mind orange, and really was quite surprised I didn't have much. Oh well, that's what part of this challenge is about.

I decided I just couldn't part with any of the photos so I made a two page spread. You know how it is as a mom, every little expression is different and no two are the same? Yep, that's me! Every cute face this little guy makes is super special to me!

Quote on the right side of the layout reads: "If you want to be happy, be!" Leo Tolstoy

I loved this "polaroid" look that Latrice had on her example so I wanted to duplicate it on my layout. I think it turned out pretty cute~

I added machine stitching to both sides of the layout. I used a straight stitch and a zig-zag stitch. The stitching on the lower dark blue border piece was purposefully meant to be not straight. The layout was looking to "clean" and I couldn't handle it so I added some curves!

The flags were hand cut with coordinating paper and word stickers added.
Title Cut out using Cricut Expression 2 cartridge "Alphabet"

The "B. You" is from a recycled booklet that came with one of the kiddo's toys. It had all kinds of different "B" quotes and sayings.

I think I did pretty good with the color scheme, what do you think? Be sure and some back for Day 3, the challenge is stitching, I can't wait!!!

Scrapbook Challenge Throwdown: Day One

Hey All!
Last week I found out about a " 10- Challenge Scrapbook Throwdown" so my crafty BFF and I signed up. Yesterday was Day One and the challenge was 4x6 layouts, and as ridiculously late as I stayed up to do it, I actually finished Day One!!!

It has been FOREVER since I have actually scrapbooked. I've been to busy crafting and just haven't had it in me, which is why I thought this challenge would be good. These photos are from 2006! WOW! But hey, the pics are finally scrapped and now I don't have to throw (pun intended) them around anymore :-)

It was a rough start, but this is what I came up with. Enjoy!

Supplies: Mostly Recollections, My Mind's Eye, & K&Company

I can't wait to see what the other days are going to be having us do! What do you think for my first try in awhile? Pin It
